Music Marketing #1

 

Song Selection and Artist/Group Branding

We first reviewed the assigned songs: As a group, listen to each track carefully and discuss the mood, lyrics, and potential appeal.

We got to consider their style, personality, and how they connect with the rock genre. 

Creating a backstory we also created a brief bio for our band to establish their identity. Their origin (how they were created), and what makes them unique. 


Research and Campaign Development

  • We used good resources to get good research about the successful rock campaigns. While taking  note of marketing strategies like interactive websites, social media, etc.
  • Target audience: Identify the demographic most likely to connect with your music. Develop a psychographic profile (e.g., lifestyle, values, habits).
  • Campaign outline:
    •  Introduction
      • Launch teaser videos or posts on Instagram, TikTok and facebook
      • Share clips of your artist in the studio or on tour to build curiosity.
      •  Engagement
      • Host live Q&A sessions or interactive polls.
      • Release short clips of the music video as sneak peeks.
    •  Release
      • Drop the full music video on YouTube with cross-promotion on all platforms.

Music Video Pre-production

  • Storyboard: We had to use at least 20 slides to plan the narrative, shots, and angles. Ensure the visuals aligned to our brand.
  • Mise-en-scène: Defined the aesthetic with lighting, costumes, and props that reflect the artist's identity.
  • Filming plan: Assigned roles (director, videographer, editor) and set a shooting schedule. 

Presentation Planning

  • Slides:
    • Included the research on genre trends and audience.
    • Showed visuals of our campaign elements (website, social posts).
    •  Linked the music video with an explanation of its role in the campaign.
  • Distribution plan: Outline release platforms, timelines, and strategies to amplify reach.
  • Pitch structure: Start with a compelling hook, walk through the campaign.
