OWF Project
Directions
We had to work in pairs to create a 60-90 second short film representing an assigned word that in my case the word that was assigned to me was ‘tolerant’, using a variety of camera shots, angles and techniques, we developed a 15-slide storyboard to pre-plan the use of our shots. Each member of the group had to edit the footage, there was no dialogue allowed, and only instrumental audio was incorporated. The film will was created in iMovie, with progress monitored in class and evaluated based on editing and storytelling effectiveness. The final film had to be named using the format "OWF" followed by our last name.
Approach on the project
When I first received the word for my project, I knew I wanted to create something both emotionally resonant and visually engaging. My partner and I got the word "tolerant". From there, We began brainstorming scenes that would capture different aspects. So we wanted the add up of the scenes to look smooth and create something that made sense and represent the actual meaning of the word.
Brainstorming
During brainstorming, I explored various interpretations visual metaphors to communicate the theme (word). I broke down different scenarios that could show connection, such as through the exchange of objects, body language, or shared glances. I then created a rough list of possible settings, thinking about how different shots like close-ups and wide angles could highlight emotional moments. We used iMovie to edit the project we found the app very useful and easy to use, which helped us a lot during the editing of the scenes, etc.

Analysis: I think we did good on the scenes but we can improve on the transitions and the organization of the scenes, but after all in my opinion we did well for our first time, and hope to get better on it for the next project. I’d focus more on refining the lighting and enhancing the use of symbolism throughout the film too. Although I was happy with how the shots turned out, the lighting in some scenes could have better matched the mood I was aiming for.
